The term 'Virtualization'

Today’s world is running at a fast pace – so fast which seems to cross all the barriers of the ‘physical ‘world. How do I say that? Well, if only we all know that the world is moving towards its goal to go virtual in every possible way! Virtualization has become a common term in the IT industry today. It simply indicates the creation of something which is not actual – it is virtual. It could be virtual operating systems, virtual servers, virtual storage devices or virtual network resources.
After working in the IT industry for sometime with specific focus on virtualization technology, I have gained knowledge on the companies giving their bit of contribution to the success achieved in building virtual infrastructures. Some of the names in the virtualization world are Intel, VMWare by EMC2, Microsoft. We heard of software virtualization traditionally by companies like Intel have been using their technological expertise to bring out enhancements to servers and client platforms.
Among all the aforesaid names, Vmware seems to create landmarks in the virtualization world. As rightfully said by VMWare, virtualization is a technological innovation by which the physical hardware is decoupled from the operating systems. This facilitates greater IT resource utilization and flexibility to companies.
